Developer Onboarding Feedback Loop

A practical feedback loop for improving developer onboarding after each release.

Objective

Reduce time-to-first-success for new developers by collecting and acting on onboarding friction quickly.

Lightweight Loop

  1. Capture the first three blockers from support, Discord, and office hours.
  2. Group blockers into docs, product, or messaging issues.
  3. Ship one improvement in each category every sprint.
  4. Re-check the same task with a fresh developer.

Metrics to Track

  • Time to first successful API call
  • Docs pages with highest exit rate
  • Number of repeated onboarding questions

Keep the loop small and repeatable. Consistency beats one-time cleanup projects.
